Intoximeters UK Ltd., based in Totnes, Devon, was established in 1997 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Intoximeters Inc. Offering a comprehensive range of products and services, it has consolidated it's position as a major supplier to Police and enforcement authorities within the United Kingdom and as a base for support and service of instrument sales throughout the EU. Although Intoximeters did not sell instruments directly into the UK law enforcement market prior to the late 1990's, it was no stranger to the market. Prior to 1997 Intoximeters products were the most widely used evidential analytical instrument in the UK's drink drive campaign. The Lion Intoximeter 3000, was an instrument designed by Intoximeters, Inc. and licensed to Lion Laboratories for distribution.
Today Intoximeters products (Intoximeters EC/IR, AS-IV UK and AS FST) are fully approved by the Home Office for use by the Police throughout the UK. While these three devices are what are offered for drink drive enforcement we also offer products for many other applications. Our facility includes a UKAS accredited calibration laboratory, and workshops where our factory trained engineers provide service and support for all our products.

Interesting Historical Note:
The terms Breathalyzer ™ and Breathalyser ™ have become synonymous with breath alcohol testing equipment. Both are trademarked names not owned by Intoximeters, Inc. In fact the term Breathalyzer originated from an instrument invented by R.F. Borkenstein that utilized Chemical Oxidation and Photometry to determine alcohol concentration. The instrument was originally introduced in 1954 and was widely utilized for more than 20 years.
