The U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005, passed by the U.S.
Congress July, 2005, extended Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the U.S. by
approximately four weeks. As a result, beginning in 2007, DST will start three
weeks earlier on March 11, 2007, and end one week later on November 4, 2007,
resulting in a new DST period that is four weeks longer than previously
observed.

AlcoSensor IV XL @ Point of Arrest systems automatically set
the clocks on the XL evidential breath tester based upon the system clock of the
Handheld or Pocket PC included within the POA case. The POA software on the
Pocket PC displays the date and time on the Main Menu of the software.
The following are actions that Intoximeters recommends based
upon the operating system platform of the Pocket PC or Handheld PC included in
your POA Case, to ensure that your POA system clocks are appropriately set
through DST changeover dates in accordance with the new law:

HP Jornada 680/690/720
NEC MobilePro
|
Windows CE 3.0 /
Handheld PC 2000
|
This version of the Windows CE operating system does not
automatically update the system clock for DST changeovers, so the new DST
rules should not change your regular DST changeover date procedures.. On
DST changeover dates, users should manually update their time through the
“Configure” menu in POA, by clicking the “Date and Time” button,
or by calling into the IntoxNet host PC before commencing testing after
DST changeovers. |
Dell Axim X50 |
Windows CE 4.0 /
Windows Mobile 2003
|
This version of Windows CE automatically updates your
system clock based on DST changeover dates at the appropriate time.
Intoximeters recommends that users of POA systems based upon this platform
apply the appropriate registry import to correct the DST changeover
settings used by the operating system in accordance with the new law.
An installation cabinet that automatically performs this
update on the Dell Axim X50 is available via http://download.intox.com/DTU/DST2007.cab
Because settings storage in Windows CE 4.0 is based upon
volatile memory, this patch must be reapplied any time the system is
restored (i.e. following total battery depletion of the device).
Intoximeters may, based upon request, update your program reinstallation
program image to include this patch making this step un-necessary.
If you have not yet updated your registry with
the above patch so that your Pocket PC automatically uses the new DST
changeover rules, then on BOTH the new and old DST changeover dates, users
are strongly advised to manually update their system clock
to the appropriate time through the “Configure” menu in POA, by
clicking the “Date and Time” button, or by calling into the IntoxNet
host PC before commencing testing after DST changeovers.
